Matthias, a few days ago rfc8482[*] was published. It allows more leeway in DNS responses to ANY queries. One of the allowed behaviors is "Answer with Best Guess as to Intention". I see list.dnswl.org returns A and TXT. I'd guess getting those two records is exactly the intention of those who ask for ANY. Would you agree? Would you publish some statistics on what QTYPEs do list.dnswl.org servers receive, please? I mean some rough numbers from a typical day log, such as: Looking at a recent log file for one of my dnsbls, I see 113,617 A queries, 7701 (useless) AAAA queries, 2311 TXT queries, and only 34 ANY.[†] (Or proportions thereof). I think those numbers may shred some light on average intentions of dnswl clients. Thank you Ale -- [*] https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8482 [†] https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/msg/ietf-smtp/KrLYNaUQzPNqM8xSKJWDzhYFM_g
